An Accidental Discovery!

When confronting dishes in my sink one day,
I found a jalapeno slice stuck to the bottom of a copper-bottomed saucepan,
And when I took it off, there was a bright shiny spot!
So that was the birth of a little short-cut-no-scrub-shiny-pot-bottom trick!
It only seemed fitting that I should make a little comic out of it.
At least this is how I picture it…

Of the Cloth

Although I sort of may have once or twice said that I would never wind up doing this,
( I take it back, before W was born, I had thought I would…
But after experiencing the world of newborn-poo for myself,
I never thought about it seriously again )
I stumbled upon the deal of all deals through a local co-op group
And thought to myself,
“Hmmm! Instead of grimacing and grabbing that $40 box of disposable di-dees
That only lasts approximately one month on my little non-potty-chair-interested 2.5 year old,
I could buy enough CLOTH diapers to last a few days,
For the price of two boxes of disposables,
And save a butt-load of money!”

I decided to take the plunge,
Partially because of saving money
(Ok mostly because of that)
And partially because…umm I will admit… these diapers are super cute.
And I’m a sucker for cute.

So here are my observations:

>>I am staying caught up on laundry, because I know I have to wash these diapers. *SCORE!*

>>They are soft and the baby-child likes them.

>>They photograph well.

>>They aren’t THAT hard to manage.

>>The loose poop factor is kind of gross, but it DOES come off and they don’t smell.

>>The laundry detergent I bought to wash them with comes in a super-cute tin!

>>They usually do not last all night on him, but now using 1 disposable per day isn’t going to break the bank.

I’m still new at this, so we’ll see how I handle a poop-splotion in public.
It’s sort of my greatest fear right now.

If you have any advice to offer me (besides sun bleaching, which I plan to do this summer when it’s possible)
Leave it!

Dreamland Apartments. And Madeleine.

Here’s a really great idea.
I’m always full of those…

What if I bought an old crappy apartment complex
Then gutted it and created unique rooms…
THEN on top of that, I would furnish them awesomely and rent the units out at astronomical rates but I could get away with it because each apartment would be so delightful and comfortable and livable that people would be willing to part with their hard earned money in exchange for such wonderfulness and ease of moving on their part.

Obviously, I would call it “Dreamland”
Because it would be my dream of designing cool places for people to live
They would be able to move right in and live their dream.
And have sweet dreams at night.
Or day.
Here are some things I’ve been pinning that make me want to do this…oh so badly…
I did NOT just say ‘oh so’…

Oh yes so the pictures.

Oh I could go on forever.
What’s that?
One more?
Oh okay…

Somebody pull me away from Pinterest NOW!
Wait no don’t.
Love me some Pandora.

3 shots of espresso (in a caramel macchiato)

A cherry coke

A strong, fresh (delicious) drip coffee

And I finally got the kitchen cleaned and some other things accomplished late tonight.

Now, I crash.

Crunch Time

I haven’t posted anything for a while since I’ve been busy with trying to finish up some projects that will be up for sale at Handmade City 2 this coming Saturday.

Actually I’ve barely been on my computer much at all… the iPod touch is much quicker to use for a quick check up on this or that than this old beast, although typing is by far more efficient with the old laptop.

We had a good time with Family on Easter, and had some good food and got some cute pictures taken of the babies at church – I need to take more pictures as the Boy is growing. I take a lot as it is, but he is changing every day and I have the feeling that one day I’m going to realize that he’s grown up and wish I had more pictures to reminisce over. Plus he can just be such a goofball sometimes. Hopefully I can capture more of that!

I must say, this has probably been the rainiest spring that I’ve ever seen in my 26 years of living. The plus side is that the grass is looking vividly green and the trees are blooming and bright and flowers are looking healthy. The downside is that it’s extremely gloomy every single day, and for some reason, I find it harder to accomplish things when the weather is so sucky. Snow is different because it’s soft, quiet, sparkly and beautiful. But rain is just gray and wet and annoying to walk around in. So I avoid that, and stay inside.

I guess that’s all for now – I most likely will not end up posting again until after Saturday!

Don’t forget to come – it’s going to be super fun!

p.s. Isn’t this rug from Anthropologie just ridiculous cute? I would totally put this in the baby’s room! I can’t help it… it’s my favourite store, even if I can’t afford stuff from there 🙂
