There is sometimes that moment
When you actually think about something
A little more deeply
Than just the way that you normally live,
Accepting things for how they are
And not questioning anything.
I’ve had a lot of questions this year.
But today,
I bought dirt.
Yes,
I paid money for something that is under and around me
Everywhere I go-
It is filling the earth
But!
Someone put it in a bag
With a promise of healthy houseplants,
And a team of people designed a graphic
And printed it on a bag
And someone else delivered it to the store
And someone else unpacked it and
Lovingly placed it on a shelf
And I went in and picked it up and
I bought it.
And now THAT dirt
Is mine.
And I guess,
That lots of people have jobs
Because of dirt.
